Pavey Ark
Feb 5 @ 7:30 pm – 11:00 pm
Pavey Ark @ The Light Dragoon

Pavey Ark are an alternative acoustic band from Hull, the 2017 UK city of culture. Their sound is hard to define and hard to get out of your head. Finger picked guitar, atmospheric vocals and violins glide like migrating birds over melodic bass lines and complex percussion. A beautiful folk inspired sound that makes you wish you were gazing out to sea next to a bonfire of your worldly possessions.

Sunjay
Apr 9 @ 7:30 pm – 11:00 pm
Sunjay @ The Light Dragoon

Sunjay’s style has that natural drift between folk and blues and both camps have recognised his obvious flair. There have been a clutch of award nominations, including winning the Wath Festival Young Performers Award. He also made the final selection for the BBC’s Young Folk Award in 2012, had three nominations at the Exposure Music Awards 2014 and was also recognised by the 2014 British Blues Awards.

Sunjay had a successful stint playing the lead role in a touring theatre production of Buddy Holly &The Cricketers earlier this year.

And he has created a new record, Sunjay Sings Buddy, and is preparing to head out on the road.

Les Glover
May 14 @ 7:30 pm – 11:00 pm
Les Glover @ The Light Dragoon

Over the last 39 years, Les has been performing, either as a solo artist or as part of a band, both in the UK and across Europe, and has several TV and radio appearances. He has a healthy love of all styles of music, from Hank Williams to Motorhead and an unhealthy love of 70’s Pop. Les can often be heard incorporating an interesting cover or two into his live performances.
His early band days of the late 70’s/early 80’s saw him as part of the Liverpool music scene playing at the now legendary Eric’s club, supporting the likes of The Chameleons and A Flock of Seagulls.

Having a very dynamic approach to playing, Les applies his unique style to his own original compositions. His album ‘The Love Terrorist’ contains twelve tracks, covering a variety of subjects; from bitter sweet observations with hints of poignancy and humour, to life affirming, joyous rants, aimed at people who are old of mind but young at heart, or vice versa!

Edwina Hayes, Carrie Martin & Lucy Marshall
Jun 4 @ 7:30 pm – 11:00 pm

We’re proud to host three regional singer/song writers that have all played separately at The Processed Pea but here they are together playing their own sets.

Edwina Hayes

Edwina’s beautifully written songs, charming stage presence and voice of an angel have won her a reputation as a true natural talent of gentle folk-Americana. She has opened numerous shows for Jools Holland and Van Morrison as well as her own gigs playing stages everywhere from Glastonbury Festival to The Royal Albert Hall. Edwina numbers Michael Parkinson and Mike Harding among her fans and the title track of her album Pour Me A Drink was covered by Nanci Griffith who calls her ‘the sweetest voice in England’.

Carrie Martin

Carrie Martin is a British acoustic guitarist, singer and songwriter from Hull in Yorkshire. Having given up music to raise a family she returned to writing, playing and singing encouraged by the noted acoustic guitarist Gordon Giltrap – she cites her meeting Gordon as the most important thing that has happened to her in her musical career. Her guitar playing has attracted sufficient attention for her to be recruited as an endorsee by Vintage guitars. Influenced by the likes of Eva Cassidy and Ann Wilson from Heart, her writing and performing style nevertheless defies categorisation.

Lucy Marshall

Lucy Marshall is a 20 year-old acoustic singer-songwriter from Hull. Her eclectic mix of covers and original material was first brought to people’s attention when she started performing at only 15. Lucy has supported several well known artists such as Lucy Ward, The Long Notes, Roddy Woomble and Chantel McGregor, as well as playing at well established festivals including the Main Stage at Cornucopia, Cambridge Rock and Blues, The Great British Blues Festival and The Great British Folk festival, of which she packed out the skyline stage, late last year.
